Exciting news from the flagbearer of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia! He has announced plans to introduce E-Gates at Kotoka International Airport by the end of this year.
These innovative E-Gates will be installed in the arrival section, eliminating the need for travelers to undergo immigration checks upon arrival.
Dr. Bawumia made this groundbreaking announcement during a meeting with the clergy in Cape Coast, kicking off his Central Regional tour on Monday, June 3.
He emphasized the government’s commitment to digitizing state institutions to enhance accessibility for Ghanaians.
“In fact, before the end of this year, if you arrive in Ghana at Kotoka Airport, you won’t need to see an immigration officer. We are implementing E-Gates.
You simply use your Ghana card, the gate will open for you, and you pass through. The E-Gates will be operational in Ghana before the end of this year,” he declared.
Additionally, Dr. Bawumia expressed his intention to have an “open and frank discussion” with religious and faith-based organizations about school management, with a particular focus on maintaining discipline.
Traveling through Kotoka International Airport just got a whole lot easier! Say goodbye to long immigration queues and hello to swift, hassle-free entry with the new e-gates at the arrival hall.
Now, registered passengers with biometric passports can simply swipe their way through the e-gates and be on their way in no time.
These cutting-edge e-gates are designed to streamline your journey by using advanced facial recognition technology. This tech verifies your identity against the data stored in the chip of your biometric passport, ensuring a smooth and secure process.
The introduction of e-gates is a significant upgrade from the old PISCES system, which was limited to basic identification. With the new e-gates, your airport experience will definitely be quicker and more efficient, so you can enjoy your travels without the usual airport stress.
