A new group of arrested Democracy Hub activists appeared in court in Accra today. A busload of teenagers arrived under strong protection before of their planned hearing.
The #FixTheCountry convenor was conspicuously absent from the gathering, according to authorities, since he is undergoing medical attention at the hospital alongside another inmate.
This is Day 2 of arraignment for protestors arrested during the #OccupyJulorbiHouse rally.
On Tuesday, a court in Accra remanded 39 demonstrators in detention following a demonstration organized by the pressure organization Democracy Hub.
Yesterday’s batch, which numbered around 39 people, was similarly transferred in various busses amid intense security.
During the three-day demonstration at the 37 Roundabout, where the demonstrators were raising awareness of issues like economic mismanagement and illicit small-scale mining, or galamsey, they were arrested.
On Sunday, September 22, during the protest’s second day, a significant altercation broke out between the Democracy Hub demonstrators and the Ghana Police Service.
Protesters arrested during the #ReOccupyJulorbiHouse and #StopGalamseyNow demonstrations have arrived at the circuit court, surrounded by armed police officers. Oliver Barker Vormawor was not among the first group presented today.#JoyNewsFocus pic.twitter.com/4kE7N20bxL
