What is TIN?
The Tax Identification Number (TIN) is a unique Identification Number issued to taxpayers for official transactions.
TIN is a nine-digit number used as a tracking number by the Internal Revenue Service (IRS). It is required information on all tax returns filed with the IRS. Getting a TIN is free. To pay tax, one must get a TIN. It is an offence not to have a TIN as a taxpayer.

Requirements For A TIN: Individuals
- National Identification Card
- Voters ID
- Valid Driver’s License
- Valid Passport
Requirements For A TIN: Companies
- Certificate of incorporation
- Commencement certificate
- Partnership certificate
- External company letter
To apply for your TIN online, complete a simple form, “Online TIN Form“. If your registration is successful, you will get an email from GRA. GRA will tell you by SMS when your certificate is ready. You will need to collect your certificate from your local Domestic Tax Revenue Division office
How long will it take to get my TIN?
The Law provides for 21 days to process TIN. You should therefore get your TIN certificate within 21 days.
